Our New Study

This Monday we will start our study on the Gospel According to Luke. We'll start at 6:30 p.m. and wrap up around 8:30 p.m. I'll post our meeting location tomorrow.

Here are some resource links for the study:
(For those of you who did the "How we got the Scriptures" study, both of these audio versions are based on the Textus Receptus...there aren't any free audio Bibles based upon better versions.)

Prayer request

Wednesday we spent the entire day in the hospital, waiting for Mike to get admitted and to recieve surgery (bit of an emergency). He had an abcess drained and removed last night larger than a softball. He is so ill now he can not continue with his Chemo treatments for the next three weeks or so. I appreciate prayers for him, his wife and daughter, as well as our parents.

Terry

God, the source of all health: So fill our hearts with faith in Your love, that with calm expectancy we may make room for Your power to possess us, and gracefully accept Your healing; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer Requests

This is a post where we can add prayer requests, good news for answered prayer, and other items we would like each other to be aware of consistently. Please change the date as you add new requests so this gets moved to the top.

  • (the Doyles) my Aunt Jean has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She's the Aunt I (Jimmy) am closest to and has played the role of surrogate "Nanna" for my children since my mom died. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. Kind of a "double whammy" feel for us.
  • (Terry) Pray for his brother

Incite Invasion

The group that I mentioned on Monday that is rennovating apartments for people is called Incite Invasion. Here's a link to their website. It might be good to take a look. Bill and Carrie Mulder are the founders/leaders, and they are the parents who have a student who goes to Metro. I'm thinking about checking it out some Tuesday night. (Carrie asked me if I would like to speak to their group, but I would feel weird speaking to them and not having a personal connection with them.)

Monday Oct. 10

Gather around 6:30. Discussion will start around 7:00 pm. We're on the 3rd chapter of Amos. It might be helpful to check out the Message version of Amos before the study. Also, for a more in-depth look, here's the NetBible version in pdf. The pdf file has a lot of really good endnotes for translation and contextual insights.

We will be meeting at Zed's House of Prayer tonight. Drop me an email if you need directions.
